I know that on my laptop, the "File Open" and "File Save" dialogs just freeze up on Vista. An hour glass cursor comes up and then it just hangs. Is this the problem you are having? Also, does the game prototype run fine? I suspect that only the editor has this problem, and then only after one of the dialogs opens up. I am having a hard time finding the problem. I know that on Vista they handled the dialogs differently than win32, so thats a good indication ... I will get back on this problem today. I was hoping it would just go away. Guss not Smiley

That's the problem right there! Only much slower on your laptop, it eventually happens, after I go cooking, and take a shower, and come back with the dessert...
Since I could never run XP or anything else than Vista since my older PC (some Hardware incompatibility I guess), I'm hoping this can be solved and soon, it really slows down development.
Thanks J!

Ok, I will fix that for sure! It's my main priority now. Can you try the runtime version and see if that runs ok on your PC. Can you see the water alright? Are there any errors in the text output window ?

I'll test it once I get home! But I tested the previous one and I presume you haven't changed the shader, and the water displays fine (although the artifacts - black dots ,appear now and then) , however, SSAO turns the atmosphere black, the rest is like 80%. Bloom is the way I like it, AA is almost imperceptible, and blurs the image up a bit.
I'm trying to develop new buildings, and props, while you fix the problem, tell me when you are done, I'll upload my files so that maybe you can add it to the demo and see its behavior in with cities!

That is a fairly old version you are talking about. In the new one all of these problems should be fixed. The good new is that I am narrowing in on the Dialog box problem...

Sorry to tell you J, but the latest is the worse version I ever ran.
The dialog just doesn't open! And if I insist, it opens but doesn't respond!
I remember the first time I added stuff into the editor, the problem wasn't so serious, it's getting worse on every new one.

Edit> by the time I finished typing the message, the dialog opened, but it seemed like the same problems persist!
SSAO problem!, dialog box problem

Have a bit more patience. I am making my own file open and save dialogs now. I couldn't solve the problem with Vista. All I know is that it has something to do with OpenGL/ Memory and the new Dialog boxes in Vista. Long story short, I will have the new version in a few hours. Then the problem with opening files will be gone!

I can see from the screenshot that the atmosphere is gone under SSAO. Is it still there without SSAO turned on  ?

It's done! There is a new Studio download on the website, where the file dialog problem is fixed. I also managed to reproduce the black atmosphere with SSAO and will thus be able to fix this problem as well.

Let me know if there are any other problems on your system. I had to replace the dialogs at several places and haven't tested everything very well yet. So, try loading/saving/importing and exporting for yourself first before you do too much work.

Other than that it should really fly on your PC now.

Sorry if I seem impatient! I'm not even building anything with it yet so, really, I'll wait.

Yes there's an atmosphere if the SSAO is off.

Thank goodness! Hopefully I'll be more motivated to work now! Thanks a lot J.... downloading..... I'll give you a feedback later!

Yes! It works, export doesn't work though, the dialog opens, but it's an 'open' dialog!
Ooff, I can start working now!
