Ok first off, i know my drawing is bad so if theres anything your not sure about just ask i was going to add colour, but i didnt have any and where i uploaded this i dont have photoshop :/ but all in all conscidering my lack of skill and the fact half of this was drawn on a train, i think i did pretty well ^^ feel free to change the trains look btw, thats just there to let you know what the structure is, which was what i was getting at ^^ basicall the trains are pulled along and held in place by strong magnets allowing fast inter city travel, and its safe too the main thing i wanted to showcase was my idea for the look of the tracks The black is up front and the white bits are behind the black, i realise this would have been eaiser to understand with colours but, couldnt be helped xD The main thing is the entire structure is all linked, the support on the furtherst left is all linked, and over laps itself for support, and the far right is leading onto a bridge between some mountains, and comments are welcomed

Holy crap, if I were drawing on a train, or any moving vehicle, it would look like this "scribble scribble, heart pulse..."
By the way, what's with the lines connecting the train to the track?

xD well it wasnt easy i just didnt draw when it got to shaky, but my train service in the south west is pretty snazzy so its a very smooth rise but those lines are to indicate the supports where the magnets hold the train onto the track thats why theres no wheels

Oh I get it! So those lines from the track to the train don't exist in the visual world and are like magnetic fields.

Yeah making it look as if its floating, also allowing it to acheive great speeds aswell because the field is strong enough to hold it in place, so theres no chance of it derailing due to speed

But what about the passangers inside? Do they have liquid steel seatbelts or what?

Well it should be like a normal train Allowing you to walk around the train, because you will also technically be travelling at the same speed as the train technically, so it shouldnt affect you really. They could include seatbelts on the train if it threw them around too muchm but i think the ride should be smooth really, it wouldnt be like a train that we use, that jerks around because it follows the tracks and they cant keep it exactly straight etc, whereas with the magnets holding the train in line with the tracks and pulling the train along, the ride should be extremelley smooth, and also very quick

But what about turns? Do the magnets pull the train along the track by allowing room for turns to make them five times smoother?

The technology used to power this train is available today! The Maglev is a magnetic levitation train developed by a German company. It mimic supercondutive levitation. This train keeps it's distances from the tracks no matter the speed, or if there is a turn.

really this i did not know, thats rather interesting and i think they should be fine on the corners just make the train slow a little for them then pick speed back up

Magnetic levitation is independent of inertia or speed. The actual trains were tested to reach above 580km/h (360 mil/h), effortlessly, these are not conventional speeds for safety reasons. The journey is quiet and super comfortable. It could turn the tracks up-side down, it wouldn't get the train off tracks. If you keep it in a tunnel like the one you drew, it may reach it's full potential speed 4000mil/h (6000 km/h). really this i did not know, thats rather interesting Do some research before you develop an idea. It will help with references. As a designer, you must make sure your idea isn't a cheap copy of any other's! The train is a good idea. Building the tunnels for the game, might prove to be a challenge though!

Indeed, i didnt research it because i didnt think it was even available atm xD but yes its not in a tunnel per say, it is held in place by magnets above and below i was hoping the track to be quite sleek and not very thick, or bulky, though tunnels are a good idea aswell, i was hoping mainly to allow quick travel between cities, but at the same time allowing an amazing view from on the train

I see, I also tough of that, but only for relatively short distances (inside stations, big structures, spacecruisers, etc) I even though of boats... I though it might be just heavy on the server, to have too many objects on the ground + cities+ players, when we clearly know the superiority of a flying ship!

Indeed very true, though i thought of it more a thing for players who have only just begun playing, or people who are hard done for cash. Im not sure about the server capacity though, Jochen would have to answer that because in the end he's the one who has to decide these things , im pretty sure that there are servers out there with the capability of handling this, probably especially by the time we have finished developing this, and even then we can link the servers up as a cluster so in the end it could have limitless potential. The only thing that will be limited is the power of peoples computers but even then you can put the majority of the load on the server anyways i think

Do some research before you develop an idea. www.wikapedia.org is great for research, trivia, facts, history, and even statistics. Did you know that Grand Central Station is really Grand Central Terminal?
