Hello guys!

I've been busy learning Lua for a few days now and how to use the Gest3D editor efficiently. Even though I've only touched the tip of the iceberg I've managed to create something of a Pangea: Racer prototype.  It's very rudimentary and contains only a very simple time attack mode.

To start the race, simply fly close to any of the yellow spheres representing future gates. Note that you will crash if you fly into the spheres, making it a little challenging!

Also, if you would like to restart the race you simply fly close to a gate again. Note that this can NOT be the last gate used to finish the race! I know this is annoying since the gates are roughly aligned and will make you fly back and fourth unless you head back to the first gate. This will of course change in future versions.

If you find any bug related to the gameplay, please post it below using the form:
Severity - Crash, Graphic glitch etc.
Description - Description of the bug.
Reproduce  - How to reproduce the events that led to the bug, if possible
Comment - Any comment or thoughts on the bug itself.
Please note that any bugs related to the Geist3D Studio should be posted here .

Jochen will be releasing a new version of the editor any day now and this version of the Racer Prototype will NOT be compatible with it. I am well aware of this and will update the Racer Prototype as soon as I can after the new editor is released.

Good luck and have fun and don't forget to post your high-scores! Wink

Wow man! You have written some pretty interesting Lua scripts there! I had no idea that all the of lua intrinsic IO functions work inside the editor....I am absolutely amazed.

I didn't try the server yet. I will do that tomorrow. There is going to be a need for a chat/data server if we build any type of networked game; especially an MMO. I think the Eves Online server is written in python as well.

What version of the editor does it run on? The July version just stops responding! Angry

I've added the version of the studio that i use, please replace the racer included though. I don't know if the one included in the studio works as intended.

You might as well wait until a new version of the editor comes around. The one that stormgnu uses is not available for download anymore. Plus you have to open demo7 first otherwise it will crash. I have done so many changes recently that nothing is really stable, but I will soon spend some time to get things in order again. That is after the clouds are done.

Yes, I believe you should solidify the editor too. Can't wait to see the planets clouded! I hope they can be teakable (high, density, color, lacunity, etc).

And personally don't want to see any pictures until Jochen is happy with the result, for maximum "wow"-effect Wink

TorakunSama - If you really want to test it, it should work with the editor i posted. That is the version Jochen used when he tried it. If you're having problems with opening the Racer Prototype map directly then, as Jochen said, you have to first open demo7 then the map.

But it's not like you're missing out on a big thing here, it's has very very little functionality. But still, it's a start!

Ok, I'll try it out! Even if there is little, functionality is paramount for me....

For me it only worked on a ATI powered system. It doesn't even start on my PC.

I guess that you're talking about geist3d in general and not only the prototype? I do have a ATI graphic card though.

I'm talking abouot the prototype. And yes it only runs on ATI. I have a Nvidia, so I couldn't exactly test it much. I couldn't understand the race concept. If at least I had a timer display...
The Editor was also able to run on ATI, but with error on Nvidia. It worked once, then I opened a few demos, and after demo 4 it never ran again  Sad
