Hi,

I noticed the board has been slow - so here I am to get things going Tongue

I have never made a tutorial before so maybe I should watch a tutorial on making a tutorial Smiley

I am fairly comfortable with the game asset creation process and while I am still developing my own skills I am willing to help other users who would like to get started on their own 3d project.

Possible Topics:

-using Blender interface

-making a low poly model from a reference drawing

-uv unwrapping

-sculpting a high poly model

-retopology over high poly model

-baking maps

-adding a skeletal rig

-weight painting bones

-exporting md5 format

-combining images in Gimp

-painting in Gimp

etc...

I might separate the tutorials into creating  a static object in game and creating an animated character.

Great initiative, Tamarin! This board has been pretty slow for a couple of days now.

I've a great deal of work at university right now but as soon a I have time I'll start looking into the Racer again too. No time for any 3d project right now, though I'm really interested in trying 3d modeling sometime when I have some spare time Smiley

Good going Tamarin, yes, I could hear the flies in the forum...
Anyways, I'm busy preparing my holidays, I have to train my replacement, so I'm kind of cleaning up, getting ready to work on the projects! So as for Monday, I'll be up and running!
I'll be willing to help, though I never wrote an extended tutorial before.

I am still around as well. It's just that I am struggling with the f#@$% clouds. That turned out to be far more complicated than I thought. Making clouds themselves is not so difficult. The real challenge lies in rendering them fast enough. I think that I passed the half way point by now, but I will not know if my approach really works until I am further down the road. Lets hope so! It will be very cool when it works and make for an awesome racing or combat environment. Anyways, stay tuned…

Mirror Modifier

Jochen, if you enable the "embed flash" option we can keep tutorials in this thread. Of course, if this is the only one I write, then it won't be an issue Cheesy

Nice way of making tuts! I'll try to follow that pattern. However, I don't have flash, so I might use gifs or web page instead!
I would advice you to start a new topic with the mirror modifier and add Begginer_ in front of the title, so that users can easily browse through tutorials.
Great job! Keep it up!

The program I used to make this was called wink and it is freeware. I have seen better tutorials with sound and video but you cant beat this for simplicity and size.
